Together We're Better Conference

Together We’re Better

Written by: Alana

On Friday April 24th, a few intermediate students from Greensborough Public School had the opportunity to attend a conference called “Together We’re Better” with one of our 7th grade teachers, Mrs. Kanhai. This conference addressed awareness about anti-racism, human rights issues and many conflicts we face today. The attendees had the opportunity to:
  • promote anti-racism
  • recognize issues and situations related to race relations
  • discover effective strategies for dealing with conflicts
  • develop communication and problem solving skills
  • strengthen the levels of trust, empathy, and positive feelings for others
  • understand that all Canadians have a right to full participation in our society today

Some of the interactive workshops that the students participated in examined stereotypes and allowed students to explore and deconstruct messages in society and the media.

Overall, it was a fantastic opportunity for our students. Our school would love to attend this conference again next year!
