Book Fair Coming to Greensborough

Exciting news!! We have another book fair scheduled from January 22nd until the 29th.  Students will be having previews of the books this week and can begin buying at recess on the 22nd. I will open the book fair on the afternoon of the 29th from 3:30-5:30 ONLY for any parents wishing to come after school to purchase. All of the proceeds from the book fair come back to the school and allow me to purchase new materials for our students to enjoy.

Thanks for your support!

Kindergarten Registration to Commence January 16, 2015

Kindergarten registration will commence on January 16, 2015 for the 2015-16 school year. Registration forms are available on YRDSB’s website: www.yrdsb.ca. Children who turn four or five years old during 2015, live within the school boundary and whose parents are public school tax supporters will be eligible to register for kindergarten.
When you come to register your child, please bring with you:
· Your child’s Birth Certificate, proof of citizenship or Landed Immigration Documents for child and parent
· Proof of residency (tax bill or purchase/lease agreement)
If you currently have a Junior Kindergarten student here at Greensborough and you live in the Greensborough school community, the student will automatically be placed on the Senior Kindergarten list for September.

French Immersion Information Sessions and Registrations

Information sessions for the French Immersion (FI) program will take place at Sam Chapman Public School on January 15, 2015 at 7 p.m. FI registration will begin January 16, 2015. In order to streamline the registration process, parents or guardians of Senior Kindergarten students entering Grade 1 in 2015, and wishing to enrol in the FI Program, can visit or call the school office and request an Office Index Card - short version. The Office Index Card must be signed by the principal of the home school. Parents or guardians then take this form, along with one piece of identification showing their address to Sam Chapman P.S. to register between January 16 and February 13, 2015. This eliminates the need to provide duplicate enrollment information or to pre-register.

The Food and Mitten Drive

The snow is falling and the winter chill is finally seeping in. The icy winter season has sparked new inspiration. Greensborough P.S. collected non-perishable food items and proper winter attire for those in need. Families were beginning the jolly season with frostbite and starvation, and the Greensborough community wanted to help others by collecting essential supplies. The Food and Mitten Drive began on December 1st, 2014, and ended just prior to the holidays. If you were in the front hall of Greensborough in December, you will have seen the generosity of the community. Our halls were lined with boxes full of food and the tree was covered in mittens. All donations were given to the Markham Food Bank for the holidays. Thank you to everyone who contributed! We greatly appreciate your donations.
